Sports Programs
The Litchfield Recreation Commission supports youth and adult sports programs at our various facilities and fields. You can find a list and addresses of all our facilities by using the interactive map located in the Trails and Maps page.
A wide variety of youth and adult sport and recreation opportunities are available in town. Each of these has its own organizing/governing body, which cooperates with the Recreation Commission for use of facilities:
Youth Sport Programs
The Youth Sports Programs provide quality recreational sport experiences for the community’s youth through a positive atmosphere that values sportsmanship, development, and fun. Each of these may be subject to the Youth Skill Camps or Youth Recreation Camps programs established by the state.
The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services oversees the criminal background check requirement established for Youth Skill Camps.
The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services also licenses Youth Recreation Camps. A “youth recreation camp (YRC)” is a program that operates for at least 10 days per license year for the purpose of providing recreational opportunities, or a combination of recreation and instruction, to 10 or more youth per day, at a place which is continuously or periodically used for such purposes. The term includes residence camps and seasonal and year-round day camps. The licensing program does not evaluate the camp curriculum but does address a broad range of health and safety issues.
Youth sport programs in Litchfield include
Adult Sport Programs
Similar to the Youth Sports Program, the purpose of the adult sports programs is to provide quality recreational sport experiences for the community through a positive atmosphere that values sportsmanship, development, and fun.
